Choosing the Vertical Antenna

I’m evaluating these HF Multiband vertical Antennas.

- GAP Titan DX
- Cushcraft R8
- Ecomet 7+
- Butternut HF6V
- Hy-Gain AV-640

At time writing the preference is going to the GAP antenna…

I will post soon here some more reports from reviews and tech specifications as well as best prices from european dealers.

  1. Though your comparison of vertical antennas looks complete it slants the information in favor of GAP. For example, when band width is noted for the Cushcraft R-8 for 30 meters is says “50″ and for the GAP it states “All”. In reality, at least in the USA, 50 is all we are allowed to use (10.100 – 10.150). This is also noted with other bands as well. A new ham would look at your information and make an assessment based upon “wording” and I believe that is unfair. When one plublishes figures it should reflect the same information or explain the differences per international requirements. In effect your presentation lacks subjectivity.

  2. Hi , Would be very interested in the analysis esp when it comes to the AV-640. Do operate from a Butternut HF6V and
would like to see your comparison soon. R/ds Emil ZS6EGB
