Last week-end I’ve spent few hours with the Agesci Firenze 8 Scout Group for the annual Jamboree On the Air.
Here some pictures I’ve taken…
The event want to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tragic Flood of the Arno river that killed 101 people and damaged or destroyed millions of masterpieces of art and rare books.
With the combined effort of Italian citizens and foreign donors and committees, or angeli del fango (“Mud Angels”), many of these fine works have been restored
A special call sign has been assigned for this event, and will be on air as II5ALL to celebrate this event.
I will take part as Activator with my personal call sing and with IQ5FI club station call as well.

Received from Jojo DU1VHF, NTS Chairman and CFO for the Philippine Amateur Radio Association – please read and heed.
“The much-awaited CQ WW CW Contest is nigh and everyone is chomping at the bit. However, here in the Philippines, our enthusiasm is a bit tempered by the recent events of a catastrophic typhoon which took thousands of lives and destroyed much of a region in the Southeastern portion of the country. As such, hams in the Philippines are using the frequencies 7.095, 7.119 and 7.151 MHz for emergency operations. We hope that this could be given notice in order that QRM might be minimized and not hinder emergency operations.”
The subject is also addressed in this issue’s Conversation section.

During the last year edition, visitors were almost one thousand with 84 expositors.
Along to the flea market, has been reserved a space for local Amateur Radio Associations, including AMSAT, local ARI Sections and some DX Peditions crew like the guys from II0MZ Antartica.
Well this year looks like it will be more ham radio events scheduled, as member of the organization team I’m really pleased to see so much interest and enthusiasm around this event.
If you are interested on joining or simply visiting the HamFest we can reserve you a place to stay in Florence at a reasonable price.
This could be an interesting opportunity to mix ham radio with a Florence Tourist Tour.
Just back from ARI Firenze HQ where we operted as IQ5FI DCI FI 465.
Tnx Leonardo IW5EIJ for bringing IQ5FI again on air.
