Kenwood TS-990
We have been told by the Italian Kenwood importer, that during the upcoming Florence HamFest on next 6th April, will be presented the new Top-Line Kenwood HF transceiver the TS-990s.
Right in these days has been announced the final price in Italy thas is aprox 7500 Euros !
A new interesting HamFest has been announced from my local ARI club.
The Florence HamFest, is a Flea Market and Ham Radio Convention that will take place on 6 April 2013 in Florence.

During the last year edition, visitors were almost one thousand with 84 expositors.
Along to the flea market, has been reserved a space for local Amateur Radio Associations, including AMSAT, local ARI Sections and some DX Peditions crew like the guys from II0MZ Antartica.
Well this year looks like it will be more ham radio events scheduled, as member of the organization team I’m really pleased to see so much interest and enthusiasm around this event.
If you are interested on joining or simply visiting the HamFest we can reserve you a place to stay in Florence at a reasonable price.
This could be an interesting opportunity to mix ham radio with a Florence Tourist Tour.

The yearly Ham Radio Hamfest in Germany is coming. 22nd-24th June 2012 !
Ham Radio 2012 is expected to be visited by more that 17000 visitors this year.
Price is quite cheap, since cost 8 euro for 1 day and 18 for 3 days.
This year will be a good occasion to have a direct preview on new amateur radio transceivers, the Kenwood TS-990S and the Flex Radio 6500, wand the latest Yaesu FT-3000DX.
In the mean time, enjoy Ham Radio 2012 in Friedrichshafen.

Mercatino ARI Firenze 2012
The second edition of the Flea Market in Florence will take place on Saturday 14 April 2012.
We decided to move the location to a larger one this year, since le last one was really too small to host all exibitors.
We had also to refuse someone due to the fact that only a few tables outside remained… and weather conditons in April, are not so good.
This year we have a large auditorium, of over 900 sqm with a large parking area, a Restaurant and a Bar.
We really exepect to stay larger this year !
In case you visit Tuscany in April, don’t miss this event !

Also this year I’ve been in local Scout Group Headquarter for the annual Jamboree on The Air.
Along to some other hams belonging to the local ARI section of Florence, we helped the AGESCI Scout Group Florence 8 to keep in touch with other scout groups using our radio.

ARI Firenze Mercatino 2011
An excellent result on participants, for our first HamFest here in Firenze.
We had to add tables outside the main room to host everyone and during the morning we had a huge numbers of visitors.
Exposers came from many parts of Italy and particularly from Tuscany and Emilia Romanga, but also from Lazio.
Due to the excellent result obtained we have decided to announce the second edition for the next year probably in the same period, end of April.
Stay tuned on my blog or in ARI Firenze web site, during next winter, we will announce dates and a new place, since the current one has been demonstrated to be too small…

The next saturday we are going to manage the first edition of the local Ham Fest here in florence.

Will be a local event, but we already know many hams are going to arrive from different of Italy.
All available tables has been booked out in 10 days, and if weather conditions will permit, we will allow to place tables even outside the building.

JOTA Firenze
I’ve been visiting the yearly JOTA site in Florence, this saturday.
The full event has been managed by local hams and in particular by IW5EGT Alessio that were on air using the special callsign II5BP.
Antenna farm this year consisted in a rotary dipole for 20 and 40 meters, along to some VHF antennas used for local contacts.
