VE7AVV – YAESU FL-2100Z Amplifier Repairs

Article rights to VE7AVV

The FL-2100Z amplifier referenced in the following images is the 6-Band model covering 10m thru 160m (no WARC bands) and not the 9-Band version that included the WARC bands. I believe YAESU called this an off-shore or export model of the amplifier — but it is definitely a FL-2100Z.

Here is where I believe the (band switch) trouble began….

Use a mirror to examine these parts closely so you can view the bottoms and then replace these weak links with parts from http://www.vcnet.com/measures/ . Install all the parts in the 572B kit.

The original layout

The stock parasitic suppression proved to be a very weak link in the overall design of this amplifier

A crude, but hopefully informative sketch of the retrofit wiring

I am indebted to John, VE7ML; Dale, VE7SV; and Chuck, VE7WO for their invaluable assistance in making repairs to this amplifier — without them, this amp would likely have become scrap metal.

    Hi,
I am looking for a bandswich ( 9 positions ) for a Yaesu FL2100Z amplifier. Do you have any idea where I can find such a switch? Any input would be highly appreciated.

    Simone ,
Would you happen to know anyone who has a transformer for a Yaesu FL-2100 Amp?
    Just asking…
    Thanks,
    Alex

MY FL-2100Z had one 572b fail open filament.
    After replacing tube
The bias current is only 40ma
checked resistors and diodes on the bias board
    suddenly no PTT

ordered up a new relay for the bias board
trouble with PTT if anyone has an idea
suppose can bandaid wire all relays for ptt on with ground tx?
The bias current manual push of relay on bias board is only 40 ma? The
resistor will no adjust it to 90 ma?
Can I check a bias voltage?

Dear Fellow Hams, We are in the process to restore the BPF board at the back of this linear.
Where do I find parts or alternative information on the values of the torroids and caps??
Any information or assistance will be welcome.
    Thank you in anticipation,
    REgards, Emil ZS6EGB
