nice to know that you too use an 857d, which is a superb rig. i also have similar antenna restrictions and hence use an 8 feet 16 guage wire vertical tuned by an sgc sg230 antenna coupler, this set up allows me to work in all bands all time. you will have to provide a seperate power supply and ground radials for the couple, but works fine.
